Toul Tum Poung Market is often referred to as the “Russian Market” because of its popularity among Russian expats during the 1980s. It has remained popular among Phnom Penh’s diverse array of foreign residents and the local area has become a second centre of the city – home to some of the best restaurants, cafes and bars.
The market sells many things but specializes in genuine antique and reproductions. Traditional Khmer clothes and items are sold alongside modern goods. There are silk merchants and branded stocks from local factories. Outside, fruit and coconut sellers offer refreshment to all and sundry.
